Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty cars have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Police report they were notified late on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The liquid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they added.
Police then found numerous other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state preliminary tests suggest the substance was likely human blood.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; officials are not yet aware of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they added.
Local authorities announced they were working "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the public for tips.
An important political figure commented the incident left him speechless and had to be addressed rapidly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the killing of nine victims by a assailant aiming at residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
